ARIA Alumni attended the Walkersville Veterans Day Ceremony. Walkersville “adopted” the crew of AGAR 23 and added their names to their veterans’ wall in Memorial Park. They honored the crew by giving the AGAR 23 Memorial Association a set of bricks with the crew’s names.

ARIA Members, Family, Friends, First-Responders, and Walkersville Residents came together to dedicate the Memorial in Walkersville, MD to those lost on AGAR 23.

We finished 2017 with exactly $23,328.00 in donations. We are tremendously excited about exceeding our $20,000 goal and humbled by this particular amount. A big thanks to all our awesome supporters who played a role in honoring those lost on aircraft call sign AGAR 23, tail number 328.

Ceremonial Ground Breaking and Internment of Parts recovered from AGAR 23

Heritage Farm Park, 9238 Devilbiss Bridge Rd, Walkersville, MD 21793

A small group of men and women from AGAR 23’s home unit, the 4950th Test Wing, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, family members, and residents of the Walkersville community gathered to inter parts from the aircraft. These parts were found years after the crash in the fields around Walkersville. The parts were placed beneath a concrete slab that will support the granite monument.

Walkersville Commissioners and Parks Committee met with AGAR 23 Memorial representative Van Adams and selected the location for the memorial (approximately 39°29’52.3″N 77°20’54.2″W).

May 24, 2017

Walkersville Commissioners approved our plan to construct the AGAR 23 Memorial at Heritage Farm Park near the crash site of AGAR 23.

May 6, 2017

Former members of the 4950th Test Wing, AGAR 23’s home unit, met and decided to design, construct, and dedicate a marker by May 6, 2018.

They were soon joined by family members of those lost on the flight and many others who shared this vision.

April 14, 2017

Resurgence of interest in the goals of a Walkersville Site Marker effort.

Discussion began to bring the project back to life.
